Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jim Risch, Ranking Member of the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship issued the following statement regarding the nomination of Maria Contrera-Sweet to be the administrator of the Small Business Administration:

            “Small businesses make up 54 percent of the private sector economy yet, as the Obama Administration continues to pile on regulations and cancel healthcare plans, small businesses have suffered voiceless in President Obama’s cabinet.  This cabinet-level post has languished without a nominee for almost a year.  In that time, the administration has issued 3,854 regulations at a cost of $112 billion.  I am encouraged that President Obama has finally nominated an administrator to the Small Business Administration.  I will examine Ms. Contreras-Sweet’s record and look forward to meeting with her before making a decision on her nomination.”
