Washington, DC— U.S. Senator Jim Risch has selected two college students from the state of Idaho to serve as fall interns in his Washington, D.C., office. The interns have the opportunity to engage in the national level of government while assisting with constituent services and legislative research.

“Interning in the U.S. Senate is an excellent way to learn about the legislative branch of government and to see where much of our nation’s early history took place,” said Risch. “These interns are highly qualified and will serve Idaho well.”

The interns are:

Lauren Conrad, a University of Idaho junior from Boise. Lauren is pursuing a double major in political science and economics and a minor in accounting. She has served as a junior volunteer at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center and is a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Lauren is the daughter of Vic and Jani Conrad of Boise.

Jayson Vial, a graduate of Boise State University from Susanville, Calif. Jayson studied political science with an emphasis in American government and public policy and international relations. He served as an intern for the House majority leadership members of the Idaho State Legislature and as assistant mock trial coordinator for the Idaho State Bar. Jayson is the son of Richard and Tammi Vial of Susanville, Calif.
