WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), issued the following statement on the release of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) of the Columbia River System Operation:
“I’m pleased to see the Final EIS and Biological Opinion offered by the administration today. Throughout the uncertainty of the pandemic, the Corps and other action agencies have been a model for how the government can continue to serve the American people under unique circumstances. The resulting EIS appropriately recognizes the exigencies of the four dams on the Lower Snake River to the region’s energy production, flood risk management, irrigation, and economic well-being. I will continue to support collaborative action to aid salmon and steelhead recovery while ensuring the integrity and certainty of the Columbia River System Operations, and I applaud the administration for its successful work to reach a comprehensive solution.”
