BOISE, Idaho – U.S. Senator Jim Risch, member and former chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, announced the selection of Palouse Animal Wellness and Surgery Center (PAWS) as the Idaho Small Business of the Month for January 2023. PAWS will also be recognized in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.
“Palouse Animal Wellness and Surgery is an integral part of Moscow’s community. Owners Jim and Kathy Miller love Moscow and that same sentiment and care is reflected in what they do each day for their animal patients. It is with great pride that I recognize PAWS as the Small Business of the Month for January 2023. PAWS sets the bar high for local gems to give back to the community. PAWS’ recognition is well-earned.”
Dr. Don Kubasch founded PAWS in 1995, and the business was later purchased by Dr. Kathy Miller. Dr. Miller, a graduate of the Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine, and her husband Jim, have made educational opportunities an important part of the clinic and maintained accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association for over a decade.
The Millers pride themselves on their high standards in education, service, and enhancement and love for the community. Kathy and Jim, graduates of Moscow High School and the University of Idaho, raised four children in the Moscow community, all of whom have worked at the clinic in some capacity.
Background: Idaho is consistently ranked one of the best places in the country to do business. Each month, Senator Risch selects an Idaho small business that exemplifies the Idaho values of hard work, entrepreneurial spirit, and exceptional commitment to community.
