WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Risch, member and former chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, announced the selection of seven Idaho small businesses as Local Gems. This recognition is part of the fifth annual Support Local Gems All Season Long initiative, a public awareness campaign Senator Risch created to encourage Idahoans to support the small businesses that make Idaho special. These small businesses will be recognized in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.

“Small businesses are the heart of Idaho. I’m proud to recognize Clark’s Diamond Jewelry, Freedom Tires, Anderson Reserve, MidStar Firearms, Bullets ‘N Brew, Denny’s Wrecker Service, and iSource for their dedication to their communities. These local gems exemplify Idaho’s entrepreneurial spirit, and I look forward to their continued growth and success,” said Risch.

Clark’s Diamond Jewelry: Dating back to 1907, Clark’s Diamond Jewelry is a living piece of Coeur d’Alene’s history. Under the ownership of Dan Clark and now his daughter Jane, their passion for the community and attention to detail has turned this Sherman Avenue mainstay into a premier destination for fine jewelry.

Freedom Tires: Freedom Tires was founded in 2023 by Ryan and Kimberly Humphrey to bring the tire shop to their customers’ houses and save Idahoans more of their precious time. In partnership with Kenny and Sherry Gingras, Freedom Tires operates mobile tire services in Lewiston and Moscow and recently added services for commercial and agricultural customers.

Anderson Reserve: Anderson Reserve is a fine dining restaurant, butcher shop, and cigar lounge located in Sweet, and is one of Idaho’s only restaurants featuring a helicopter pad. Inspired by his grandfather’s career in meatpacking, owner Paul Anderson and family have created a unique destination for locals and visitors to enjoy high-quality food and entertainment.

MidStar Firearms: Opened in 2011 by Justin Davis, MidStar Firearms provides high-quality firearm retail and maintenance services in Middleton. Now owned by the Garrett family, MidStar Firearms is committed to creating the best experience for customers far beyond the purchase of a firearm.

Bullets ‘N Brew: Founded in 2017 by Gary Mode, Bullets ‘N Brew is a uniquely Idaho venture that combines a full-service coffee shop with a one-stop destination for firearms and ammunition. Located in Hagerman, Bullets ‘N Brew is a favorite stop for local sportsmen and visitors alike.

Denny’s Wrecker Service: Denny’s Wrecker Service began operations in Pocatello in 1962 with one truck and fuel station and has since expanded to a fleet of tow trucks and specialty trailers. Since the late 1980s, Denny’s has offered free tows home during the holiday season to help eliminate drunk driving in the community.

iSource: In 2013, Devin Dial opened iSource in Rexburg to serve the community’s need to repair Apple products. This first-of-its-kind store in the area drew customers from neighboring communities leading Remington Sharp to expand the business and open a store in Idaho Falls to assist the larger region in fixing broken screens, cameras, microphones, and more.

Support Local Gems All Season Long  is a holiday revival of the statewide Support Local Gems.
