WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) today voted for a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the Biden administration’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) rule. Their rule would overstep state authority by requiring states to measure tailpipe emissions and set declining targets to reduce emissions from roadway travel. Risch, Crapo, and 48 Senate colleagues cosponsored this resolution.

“Electric vehicles are far from realistic for everyone, especially in rural Idaho where they are completely impractical for our way of life,” said Risch. “Today, I again opposed the Biden administration’s unrealistic, overreaching greenhouse gas rule. The administration cannot box states into unfeasible green-energy standards that impede routine travel, industry operations, and consumer choice.”

“The Biden Administration continues to push its climate agenda at the expense of all who use America’s highways,” said Crapo. “This rule places an unnecessary burden on states, especially rural states such as Idaho. We must continue to push back on this radical green agenda forced on our nation through the rule-making process.”
