Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, spoke with PBS NewsHour’s Nick Schifrin about threats from Iran and the importance of defending U.S. security and interests.

When asked whether he believed that Iran was ultimately responsible for the rocket attack carried out against our embassy in Iraq, Sen. Risch answered affirmatively.

“I think what you have is people who are either Iranian or who are proxies who have been armed, trained, and ordered [by Iran] to commit those attacks, and I include this one [the rocket attack in Iraq] in those attacks . . . If you hire somebody to do something, you can’t say, ‘I’m not responsible for this.’ Of course they’re responsible for this.”
