In the interview, Senator Risch said:

“The administration has been slow to react to this from the beginning. This was an invasion of the U.S. by a balloon that belonged to the Chinese government. It was sent in intentionally. It was spying intentionally. We know what it was doing, and obviously that deserves the attention of the president in a very direct fashion. Given that, we all want to hear from the president. . . ”

“There are two different buckets we need to talk about. One of course is the Chinese spy balloon and, of course, now, these other three that have been shot down in the last couple of days. They’re very different—there’s no question about that, but we need to hear direct policy from the president as to what he will consider. . . “

“People are very interested in the timing and the fact that nothing was done for a very long period of time after this airborne vehicle entered into the U.S. . . ”

“We need to hear some very plain spoken words as far as what the administration intends to do as we go forward.”
