Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jim Risch helped lead the effort in urging the European Union to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. The letter was signed by a total of 75 U.S. senators.
“There is an enormous amount of proof that Hezbollah has conducted terrorist attacks around the world. Iran has supported their efforts and we must be united in opposing terrorism. A strong message must be sent that attacks against democracy and innocent victims will not be tolerated. The European Union should join the U.S. and other allies in designating Hezbollah as a terrorist organization,” said Risch.
The letter was sent to Baroness Catherine Ashton, vice president of the European Commission and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
