Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-ID), chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, has named Destinations Inn as the Small Business of the Month for April 2017. This Idaho business will be recognized in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.
“A Pocatello native and longtime businessman, Larry Fisher, along with his wife Debbie, has made immense contributions to the Eastern Idaho community,” said Risch. “The Fishers utilized their shared creative vision and business acumen to launch two incredibly successful hotels that are highly acclaimed beyond our state’s borders. Travelers come from all across the country to stay in their unique suites and to enjoy their singular hospitality. I am proud not only of their success as a small business, but also of the good work they do by serving as leaders in many capacities in the community. I am glad to recognize them today as the U.S. Senate Small Business of the Month for April 2017."
Larry and Debbie Fisher have built many successful businesses, including the critically acclaimed Black Swan Inn in Pocatello. After successfully transforming that unique property, the Fishers purchased and acquired the Destinations Inn in nearby Idaho Falls and used their skills in artistry and contracting to transform the hotel into a world-class themed suite lodging facility. Each of the 14 suites within the Destinations Inn is creatively tailored to encapsulate an imaginative atmosphere.
Born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho, Mr. Fisher has been a mainstay in his community for many years. Mr. Fisher currently serves on numerous boards and committees including the Pocatello Development Authority, Grand Teton Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and Portneuf Valley Interfaith Fellowship. Recognized for his commitment to the community, Mr. Fisher was a recipient of a number of awards including Parade of Homes Best Show, Builder of the Year, Bridge Builder Award from the Grand Teton Council of the Boy Scouts of America, voted as best lodging property several years by the community, TripAdvisor Hall of Fame Award for five years of certificates of excellence, and the Community Black Belt Volunteer Award.
The Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship oversees proposed legislation on matters relating to entrepreneurship and provides oversight of the Small Business Administration. The committee also researches, investigates and reports all problems relating to America’s small businesses to the full Senate. As Chairman, Risch will honor America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Senate each month.
