Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho) has hired Ryan White as his new deputy chief of staff. White has served Sen. Risch in a variety of capacities including during Risch's time as Idaho governor, lieutenant governor, in the U.S. Senate, and his 2008 campaign. Over the last ten years, White has worked in the intelligence community and most recently served as a professional staff member on the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. White has two Idaho 1st District Congressional Representatives in his lineage; his grandfather, Compton I White, Jr., and great-grandfather, Compton I White, Sr., both served in the U.S. House of Representatives from Clark Fork, Idaho. His grandmother, the late June Judd of St. Maries, served in the Idaho State Legislature. A native of Wallace and Post Falls, White graduated from the University of Idaho, and is the fourth generation of his family to serve on Capitol Hill.
“Ryan is one of my most trusted advisors and given his deep Idaho roots, I’m confident he will do an outstanding job helping to ensure my office continues to deliver excellent service to Idahoans,” Risch said.
Risch has also hired Marty Boughton to serve as press secretary in his Washington, D.C. office. Boughton comes to Sen. Risch’s office from the House Committee on Education and Labor Republicans where she served as the committee’s press secretary. Prior to that, Boughton worked in the personal office of a Kansas member of Congress and interned for former-Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho). Boughton, who grew up in Hailey and Boise and whose family now resides in McCall, earned her B.A. in Political Science and Geography from Texas Christian University.
“I’m very pleased to have Marty join my staff as press secretary,” Risch said. “Her working knowledge of Capitol Hill and her strong state ties will be a great benefit to my office as I work to deliver solid, conservative results on behalf of Idahoans.”
