WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch, member and former chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, announced the selection of The Shoe and Tack Shop in Jerome as the Idaho Small Business of the Month for February 2023.
“The Shoe and Tack Shop represents everything that makes Idaho great— a close sense of community, a commitment to integrity, and a respect for the cowboy way of life. Steve and Patty Gorrell opened the Shoe and Tack Shop in Jerome on January 17, 1979. The Gorrells, with their son Clay, have built what began as a simple boot and shoe repair shop into a retail store where they make and sell their own cowboy gear,” said Risch. “Over the years, the Gorrells have mastered their craftsmanship—Clay is an artisan, who does much of the tooling, Patty does the intricate sewing, and much of Steve’s knowledge on boots comes from his time shadowing his father’s own boot repair shop. From building and repairing tack, to offering advice on the best pair of boots, the Gorrells offer exceptional service. It is with pride that I recognize The Shoe and Tack Shop as the Small Business of the Month for February 2023. This recognition is well-deserved.”
The Shoe and Tack Shop will be recognized in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.
Idaho is consistently ranked one of the best places in the country to do business. Each month, Senator Risch selects an Idaho small business that exemplifies the Idaho values of hard work, entrepreneurial spirit, and exceptional commitment to community.
