Washington, D.C. - In recognition of National Small Business Week, U.S. Senator Jim Risch has named The Nehemian in Buhl as the Idaho Small Business of the Day. The company will be recognized in the Congressional Record of the United States Senate.
“I am pleased to recognize The Nehemian as an outstanding small business. As a custom picture framing and antiques business in a small farming town, they looked for ways to expand their market,” said Risch. “They began designing custom key fobs and worked with another local business to manufacture them. I congratulate the Tyrrell’s on their effort and success they are having.”
Nancy and Ed Tyrrell opened The Nehemian in Buhl more than 26 years ago. Operating a custom picture framing and antiques store, they looked for ways to build and expand their business.
Nancy worked with Silver Creek Mint, another local business, to manufacture her custom designed key fobs. She licensed both the Boise State Bronco and University of Idaho key fob with the Collegiate Licensing Company, and sales climbed. She added a key fob with the Great Seal of Idaho and offered design services to companies commemorating special events.
Today, they offer 12 designs and handle many special orders. Using her design talents and desire to grow their business, their risk paid off with a quality product that is in high demand.
Senator Risch is the highest ranking Republican on the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. The committee oversees proposed legislation or matters relating to entrepreneurship and provides oversight of the Small Business Administration. They also research, investigate and report all problems relating to American’s small businesses to the full Senate.
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the National Small Business Week.
