Washington, DC- U.S. Senator Jim Risch is accepting applications from Idahoans for nominations to the U.S. Air Force, Merchant Marine, Military and Naval Academies. A nomination from a member of Congress is required for admittance to any Academy, with the exception of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

The Idaho delegation will host informational sessions about the Academies and their admittance process in Boise and Coeur d'Alene on October 3rd. Academy Liaisons, Cadets and Midshipmen will answer questions at both sessions, which run from 1-2:30 p.m.

The Boise session will be held at Gowen Field, 4040 West Guard Street Building 600, while the Coeur d'Alene session will be at the city library, 702 E. Front Street. Those planning to attend should RSVP to (208) 734-7219 for Boise and (208) 664-5490 for Coeur d'Alene.

"Attending one of the Service Academies is both a great honor and a service to our country and its citizens," said Risch. "It opens the door to some tremendous career and life opportunities. I encourage all those considering this option to come to a session and have their questions answered."

The application and specific instructions for nominations can be found on Risch's website, https://www.risch.senate.gov, under the Services for Idahoans tab. The deadline for the initial portion of the application is October 31st.

Applications and questions should be submitted to Risch's Constituent Services Representative, Vicki Fulton at 610 W. Hubbard St., Ste 121, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814. She can also be reached by phone and email at (208) 667-6130 and Vicki_Fulton@risch.senate.gov.
