Washington, D.C.– Idaho Senator Jim Risch and other Senate leaders met with Mexican President Felipe Calderon today to discuss issues of mutual concern to the United States and Mexico. The current business climate in both countries was at the center of discussions during the hour-long meeting.

"Mexico is facing many of the same economic challenges that we face here at home," said Risch. "It was informative to meet with President Calderon to discuss those problems and ways we can improve the health of the markets in both of our countries. Mexico is a large purchaser of many of Idaho’s products. Their economic well-being is vital to many businesses in Idaho."

President Calderon also met today with President elect Barack Obama and House leaders. He is scheduled to meet with President George W. Bush on Tuesday.
