WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Senators and cochairs of the Working Forests Caucus Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Angus King (I-Maine) introduced a resolution recognizing April 28, 2023 as Arbor Day. Arbor Day is celebrated annually to encourage the planting of trees in the U.S. This year marks the 151st Arbor Day in U.S. history. 

“Idaho is a role model for the nation in showcasing the important partnership between conservation and active forest management. This Arbor Day, I’d like to commend and celebrate those who are doing so much for our state and our nation’s forests,” said Risch, a trained forester. “I am proud to partner with Senator King on introducing a resolution to celebrate our 151st Arbor Day.”

“Forests are an inspiring part of the Pine Tree State’s history, culture, and identity,” said Angus King. “From paper products and maple syrup to cross-laminated timber and ship masts, trees have powered Maine’s economy for generations.
