WASHINGTON – Friday, U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), senior member and former chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, announced the selection of La Cabañita Mexican Restaurant in Ketchum as the Idaho Small Business of the Month for December 2020. La Cabañita will be recognized for its contribution to the Ketchum community in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.

La Cabañita has been serving traditional Latin-American cuisine in the Wood River Valley for over a decade. Restauranteur Rodolfo Armenta was born into a family of Mexican immigrants. He grew up enjoying his father’s traditional Mexican cooking and dreamed of opening his own restaurant one day. During a visit to the Wood River Valley, Rodolfo fell in love with the area’s natural beauty and tight-knit community. Soon after, he relocated his family there and realized the American dream, opening La Cabañita Mexican Restaurant in 2009.

Since its opening, La Cabañita has become a beloved staple in the Wood River Valley, garnering accolades for its exceptional food, family atmosphere, and dedicated service to the community. In addition to the restaurant’s popularity, La Cabañita has received multiple awards, including the gold medal for “Best Mexican Restaurant” in the Idaho Mountain Express’ Best of the Valley Survey for five years in a row.

Thanks to the success of La Cabañita, Rodolfo expanded his operation and opened two additional restaurants in the area. These establishments provide dozens of jobs to the Wood River Valley community and give the area’s residents a true sense of the flavors and vibrance that come with traditional Latin-American cuisine.
